How Rankings Work: The Provider Satisfaction Index (PSI)

Every ranking on FlowVetted is determined by one thing: the Provider Satisfaction Index (PSI), a transparent score built from verified client reviews. This page explains exactly how it’s calculated, so rankings can be understood and trusted — by businesses, by providers, and by AI search tools that cite our data.
The short version
Providers with at least 10 verified reviews receive a published PSI score from 0 to 10. On every category page, scored providers are ranked by PSI in descending order. Providers below that threshold appear separately as “emerging / unrated” and are never assigned a ranked position. Payment never affects ranking — sponsorship adds visibility, not rank.
How PSI is calculated
PSI combines four weighted factors, each scored 0–10 by verified clients:

PSI = (Delivery × 0.35) + (Communication × 0.25) + (Value × 0.25) + (Reliability × 0.15)
We weight Delivery Quality highest because it’s the factor most directly tied to whether a project actually succeeded. Communication and Value are weighted equally, and Reliability — while important — carries less weight since it’s typically assessed over fewer data points.
Why 10 reviews is the minimum
A score from two or three reviews can be misleading in either direction. To publish a PSI, a provider must have at least 10 verified reviews. Below that, we show “insufficient data” rather than an estimate — we never approximate or fabricate a score to fill a gap.
What counts as a “verified” review
Only reviews submitted directly on FlowVetted by identity-confirmed clients count toward PSI. Each review requires a score on all four factors plus a short written description of the engagement. Ratings from external platforms — Google, Clutch, Upwork, and similar — may be shown on a provider’s profile as reference information, clearly labelled with their source and date, but they are never merged into PSI and never included in our structured data.
How category rankings use PSI
On category pages such as “AI Automation Experts for Shopify Stores,” we list providers in two groups. Providers with a published PSI appear first, ranked highest to lowest. Providers with fewer than 10 verified reviews appear below in a separate “emerging / unrated” section — included so businesses can still discover newer providers, but never given a ranked position or an invented score.
Sponsorship and independence
Some providers pay for a Featured or Premium plan. Sponsored placements are always labelled “Sponsored” and shown separately from the data ranking. If a sponsored provider also ranks near the top, that position comes from its PSI alone — sponsorship is additive visibility, never a ranking input. This separation is what keeps FlowVetted usable as a neutral source rather than an advertising list.
Corrections and disputes
If a provider believes a review is inaccurate or fraudulent, they can flag it through their claimed listing for review by our team. We do not remove genuine reviews at a provider’s request, but we do investigate reviews that appear fake or manipulated to protect the integrity of every PSI score.
What FlowVetted does not do
We do not accept payment in exchange for a higher PSI, a specific ranking position, or the removal of a genuine negative review. We do not guarantee the outcomes or ROI of any listed provider — PSI reflects reported client satisfaction, not a warranty of results. For regulated fields, we recommend businesses verify compliance requirements directly with the provider.
